#9 - Boston, Massachusetts
Nicknamed the Cradle of Liberty, Boston is steeped in American history. It played the primary role in sparking the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and several of the early battles of the Revolution occurred near or in the city. Also, Boston is teaming with great shops, restaurants, parks, and, on the high end anyway, pet friendly hotels. It can largely be explored on foot and has an abundance of outdoor activity spring through fall. Also, the trains and subway cars (Boston T) allows well-behaved, leashed dogs to ride during non peak hours and small dogs in carriers to ride anytime provided they're in the owners lap and not taking up a seat during peak riding times.
